Dr. Deana Cook, DDS, MS
Dr. Deana Cook is excited to return to her hometown of Wilmington to join Cook Periodontics & Dental Implants and become an active member in the community. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate education in Art History. After studying abroad in Italy she began to appreciate the wonderful mix of art and science dentistry provided. She then began her dental education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with honors. In dental school, Dr. Cook was the recipient of the Grover C. Hunter award for excellence in clinical periodontology.
Wanting to broaden her educational experience and to learn the Texas Two-Step, Dr. Cook decided to head out to Texas for her residency training in Periodontics. Dr. Cook received her Certificate in Periodontics and her Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She was awarded First Place in Oral Research Presentation when presenting her clinical research at UTHSCSA Dental Science Symposium and was a finalist for the Dr. & Mrs Gerald M. Kramer Award for Excellence. In 2015 she became the director of the Port City Study Club and is currently the director of a new Spear Study Club.
When she isn’t at the office, Dr. Cook is a mom with two daughters, Emery and Sutton. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, running with friends, biking, swimming and relaxing at the beach.
Dr. Camille Banson, DMD, MS
Dr. Camille Banson was born and raised in Hopkin, Massachusetts – at the starting line of the Boston Marathon!
She pursued her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College where she studied Chemistry and Mathematics. Dr. Banson graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi Honors society for her academic merit and research accomplishments. From a very early age, Camille enjoyed working with her hands – playing piano, creating jewelry, and watercolor painting. Seeking the perfect intersection of art and science, Camille knew that dentistry was her true calling.
Dr. Banson attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree and graduated at the top of her class as 1 of 4 students with Honors in Clinical Periodontics and was awarded both the Dean’s Scholarship and the Dr. Earle Banks Hoyt Teaching Award.
Seeking warmer weather, Dr. Banson moved south to pursue her 3-year Periodontics residency training in Texas. Here she received her Certificate in Periodontics and Master’s degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and was a finalist for the John F. Prichard Graduate Research Competition.
When she is not talking about teeth with her partner Matthew, who is also a dentist, Dr. Banson enjoys staying active, travelling, and trying new recipes and restaurants!
