Dr. Deana Cook is excited to return to her hometown of Wilmington to join Cook Periodontics & Dental Implants and become an active member in the community. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate education in Art History. After studying abroad in Italy she began to appreciate the wonderful mix of art and science dentistry provided. She then began her dental education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with honors. In dental school, Dr. Cook was the recipient of the Grover C. Hunter award for excellence in clinical periodontology.
Wanting to broaden her educational experience and to learn the Texas Two-Step, Dr. Cook decided to head out to Texas for her residency training in Periodontics. Dr. Cook received her Certificate in Periodontics and her Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She was awarded First Place in Oral Research Presentation when presenting her clinical research at UTHSCSA Dental Science Symposium and was a finalist for the Dr. & Mrs Gerald M. Kramer Award for Excellence. In 2015 she became the director of the Port City Study Club and is currently the director of a new Spear Study Club.
When she isn’t at the office, Dr. Cook is a mom with two daughters, Emery and Sutton. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, running with friends, biking, swimming and relaxing at the beach.
Dr. Adam Jenkins
Dr. Adam Jenkins is a native of Columbia, South Carolina who has spent most of his life in the Palmetto state. He attended the College of Charleston for his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, where he graduated with honors. After college, he attended the Medical University of South Carolina for dental school. Since he enjoyed beach life so much, he remained at MUSC for his postgraduate training in Periodontics where he graduated with his Masters in Dentistry. During his time in Charleston, Dr. Jenkins was fortunate enough to be a member at Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach and East Cooper Community Outreach where he provided dental services to the underserved.
Dr. Jenkins is excited to take his talents to a new coastal city with Cook Periodontics and Dental Implants. He has attended numerous continuing education classes and lectures, and he strives to constantly educate himself on the latest techniques to improve the quality of care that he delivers to patients. In addition to regularly attending continuing education at the annual American Academy of Periodontology meetings, he also attends other seminars and surgical classes. Most recently, he attended the LANAP course and received his certification. He is a member of the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Association and is currently in the process of becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
In his free time, Dr. Jenkins enjoys traveling, cooking, skiing, hiking and pretty much anything outside. He is excited to be a member of the team at Cook Periodontics and Implant Dentistry
